Jabra is the Name

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

Jabra is the brandname of the hands-free communications division of GN Netcom. Wireless and corded headset systems for business, recreation and contact centers are their specialty.  Customer Interaction Solutions magazine awarded the GN9125 (a Jabra produced wireless headset) their 2008 product of the year award.

GN or Great Northern has a long history of innovation in communications.  Way back in 1869 in Copenhagen, Denmark, the Great Northern Telegraph Company put into action the idea of connecting the trade capitals of Europe and Asia with telegraph wires that reached across continents and under the seas.  It later became GN Store Nord and evolved into GN Netcom in 1987 with the invention of the headset, the “stetomike” which was the first in a long line of innovative headsets that continues today.

In 1991, one of GN’s many industry “firsts” was the ultra noise cancelling microphone.  In 1993, GN acquired Jabra, a San Diego company, that specialized in exploring hands-free communications technology.  Time after time, they have come up with firsts in this industry including the first analog wireless headset in 1996.  In 2000 they came up with the first mobile Bluetooth and also the first truly wireless digital headset.

By 2005, GN and Jabra had contributed at least 3 updated versions of the Bluetooth to the wireless industry.  They have manufactured new headsets with increasingly useful and innovative features such as built-in conference call functions and an all digital multi-purpose amplifier with the clarity of DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technology.

In 2006, they pioneered the dual connection headset which operates through traditional phone lines and IP (internet protocol) telephony.  Business communications through computer links are improving constantly, and Jabra’s products are a big part of that future.

Downloading fresh content for your Iphone

Friday, July 24th, 2009

If your an Iphone owner then your probably proud that you own one of the latest technology gizmos, not only is the Iphone a great looking phone but its packed with stunning features, a full screen Ipod, an easy to use Internet browser where you can get your emails almost instantly, support for Microsoft Exchange and GPRS (with support for Nike +) in fact its easy to forget its actually a phone as well. . It is not surprising then that your looking for  downloads to load onto this gadgets. After all, with a battery life that allows video playback of up to 7 hours and audio playback of up to 24 hours, you can listen to music on your phone for a very long time.

So here we are a few tips to pick the right download site for your iPhone

Always do your homework first just as you should do with any service you buy, check for reviews (impartial) on the internet make sure if you subscribing to a site your going to get your monies worth. Look out for sites which allow downloads of multiple type so say movies and music this way you have a one stop shop and will save yourself money

1. How much will each download cost ?
This is important. There are some sites out there that offer free Iphone downloads, some of these have a bad reputation for installing spyware etc, so again do your homework, there are some fantastic free ringtone sites out there which offer Iphone ringtones, free movie and music sites be careful off because of licensing implications they cannot normally offer these for free.
Paid membership sites on the other hand charge you either for per download or a lifetime flat fee. I recommend going with a pay per download initially so you can see what the quality of the downloads and the selection is like , if your impressed then sign up for the lifetime fee, its more cost effective in the long run but don't get tied into something until your happy with the quality. Some sites will also offer you TV shows , music videos and games so also check the selection is updated regularly

2. Fast Download Speeds
In an ideal world you want to be able to download your music, videos, ringtones etc as quickly as possible. You can download direct to the Iphone or to a PC first either way check out the speeds offered by the site, this again goes back to trying individual downloads before tying yourself into an expensive membership. remember the speed may be constrained by the speed of your connection to the Internet, the site can be as fast as you like but if your sat at home on a dial up connection then its going to take a very long time to download a movie !!

3. Site Navigation
The site should be user friendly and easy to Navigate, your paying and the customer is always king, I was always taught that a customer should always be able to find what there looking for in 3 clicks, I design all my websites using this as my one of my main goals. Make sure the downloads are in an Iphone compatible format, you don’t want to spend hours downloading only to spend more time converting
As with anything in life, shop around for the best deal, only sign a long binding or expensive contract once you happy that the site delivers what your looking for

Im a firm believer in using technolgy to the max, if you share my views please visit my free ringtone website

Automatic Cash-Back Cell Phone Offers

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

For anybody not familliar with incentivised cell phone deals the phrase automatic cash-back may seem a little peculiar or confusing. For example, you may wonder, why would a cellular telephone company give automatic cash-back, and what is meant by automatic?

First of all it is necessary to realise that when you get a cell phone contract, it is not with one company, you are actually dealing with two (unless you go direct to the network operator). Typically you will purchase your phone from a store, either on the high street or on the web. Then you will be obliged to pay a monthly fee to the mobile network. The relationship between the retailer and the network provider is solely commision based. That means the mobile network provider gives sales commission to the store.

The retailer has absolutely no way to influence the prices billed by the network provider, they are fixed. To help promote more contracts the shop may spend some of the commission they charge on incentivised deals. Once upon a time it was adequate for stores to just give away a free mobile. This after all was at a time when cellular phones were very expensive and were a a status symbol.

Now however, things are different. Mobile phones are more common and are much cheaper, so, mobile stores are forced to ply their consumers with ever more enticing incentives, for example free laptops or even free televisions.

Nonetheless some customers do not want free gifts, they just want the lowest priced cellular telephone promotion possible, and this is where automatic cash-back is used. As the shop is unable to lower the monthly line rental of a cell phone rental, they instead offer to give back some money to the consumer up front. So, for instance, if the consumer tries to obtain a 25% discount in montyly line rental, the cell phone retailer will simply calculate the monetary value of thatdiscount and hand over the cash there and then.

Automatic cashback deals are not to be confused with free line rental or cashback by redemption deals, in which consumers have to claim cash back later on in the contract. Due to unscrupilous terms and conditions attached to these claims for cash-back many customers never received their cashback, and so lost faith in the cash back by redemption deals.

So, the automatic cashback deal was introduced. These deals offered more modest savings than the cash-back by redemption offers, but, the refund was guaranteed. It was automatic, paid to the customer as soon as the contract was signed, and so, the term automatic cashback was used to describe this kind of mobile contract.

For consumers looking for an automatic cashback cellphone deal, without doubt, the best place to get one is online. Whilst it is possible to find one of these offers on the high street it is unlikely. For one thing, the high street cellular telephone retailers do not generally offer such good offers or incentives purely because their costs are higher than those of the online competition (though their customer service is usually superior). Furthermore, it is tough for stores to make money with these offers. The profit margins associated with automatic cash-back offers are so tight that they require constant tweaking, taking into account changes to the amounts of commission paid and the cost of the phones themselves. This often means that the life of a specific deal is quite short, once that ends you (as a consumer) have to wait for the next automatic cashback promotion to come along.

For this reason phone comparison sites are usually the best way to find an automatic cash-back promotion, as they will show all offers by all online retailers on one page. These offers are obscure, representing a tiny amount of the total number of offers on offer, and, you will have to accept an older less well featured handset in order to obtain one. But for the thrifty, automatic cashback deals are by far the cheapest way to run a cellular telephone.

With the huge market of business communications constantly changing and evolving, the new Savi Office line of multi-function wireless telephone systems is on the cutting edge of technology.

The Savi Office system has, first and foremost, the easily accomplished ability to switch between the desk phone and PC softphone applications. Savi Office comes with the Per Sono software suite which appears as an onscreen control panel that manages everything from which attached device is in use to web conferencing or switching to a media player such as Skype. You can also pause online applications, bring your desk phone caller in on a PC conference call or play PC audio presentations or clips for them as well.

Wireless office headset systems offer the user increased mobility when on the phone. Their range is up to 350 feet from the base. The Savi Office base’s adaptive power system lengthens the life of your battery by sensing the headset’s proximity to the base and dialing power up or down as needed, which reduces energy consumption and allows for longer talk time as well.

There are two styles of earpieces with over-the-head or ear-loop options and an additional earpiece called the Savi Go Convertible which doubles as a mobile phone very much like a Bluetooth with an extended boom arm. These headphones all include the Plantronics noise cancelling microphone which makes these especially nice for loud, open office environments.

The wideband PC audio sound increases call quality and clarity and the base is equipped with DECT 6.0 technology for WiFi friendly interference free calls. It also has 64 bit encryption which ensures the security of confidential business calls. Multiple headsets can plug into the same base for more than one onsite person to engage in conference calls. NET10PHONES.NET

Finally there is a reasonable alternative to having to pay about $40 per month for your cell phone basic fee. Net10 has a low monthly charge of fifeen dollars - plus No Contract! Net10 also has a large variety of grealty reduced Cell phones, starting $19.99. To see Net10phones, click HERE .

The big boys in this arena; AT&T, Verizon, Blackberry all have similar mobile phone plans that cost the customer a basic monthly fee of about $40 – which includes a varying number of air time, and then charge other sums for minutes at different times and with certain rate structures (see table below).

But now you can also find pay as you go plans like the one Net10 has. There is also a monthly fee, but in the example of Net10, it begins at $15/month which is for 2.5 hours of call time. So that works out at a per minute charge of 10c – and that is the cost no matter how many minutes you end up using.

Now 2.5 hours a month is not very many- just about 5 minutes a day – but you can add on minutes either via the internet, by calling a tollfree number or at many of large retail stores like Walmart, Target and Kmart. For details of all locations, click on one of the links in the first paragraph.

To keep any account active, you must get a minimum of $15/month (150 mins). If, for some reason, you do not use the minimum amount of time, any unused minutes willroll over, so you don’t lose any.

Service is all all over the US, with a few small exceptions- like rural Alaska – just like every Cell phone plan.

To view a total map of coverage,  click on one of the links in the first paragraph.

Net 10 sells a large variety of reduced mobile phones from the Net10 website including top of the line companies such as Samsung, Motorola, Nokia and LG starting from $19.99, also any unit you get form Net10 comes with three hunded free minutes  of usage- in other words sixty days.

Any questions with a mobile or the service can be answered anytime, either via the Internet or by calling their toll free number.

Cordless Phones 101

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

What did we do before we had cordless phones? I remember being a teenager lying underneath the dining room table with the kitchen door closed, talking to a friend because that’s as far as the phone cord would reach. It really wasn’t that long ago, was it?

The original cordless phones date back to the late 1970’s when they were first introduced. The earliest models had limited range, poor sound quality and were a security risk as their signals were easily intercepted due to a limited number of channels. Through the 1980s and 90s the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) granted cordless phones increasingly wider ranges of radio frequencies to accommodate growth and provide greater range and security. For example, in 1986 cordless phones operated on a frequency range of 47 to 49 mHz and in 1990 they had a range of up to 900 mHz.

In 1994, the first digital cordless phones were produced and in 1995 DSS (digital spread spectrum) was introduced which increased the security of cordless phones by enabling phone conversations to be digitally spread out, which drastically reduced unwanted eavesdropping. Then, in 1998 the FCC granted cordless phones the frequency range of 2.4 gHz. One gigahertz (gHz), by the way, is equal to 1000 megahertz (mHz). As of 2003, cordless phones have a frequency range of up to 5.8 gHz.

How do cordless phones work, anyway? The base works like a regular phone, receiving an incoming call through the phone line. It then converts that signal into an FM radio signal and broadcasts that signal to the cordless handset which converts that signal into the sound you hear. A similar sequence converts what you say into the signal that is sent out to your caller. In fact, two frequencies operate simultaneously so you can talk and listen at the same time. There are now many options of cordless phones to choose from.

Reverse Phone Lookup - Free or Fee?

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

This situation may already happen to you: There was an unknown incoming phone number on your caller ID. You wanted to know who the caller was and why he called? If the owner of that number called you many times, you may get nervous. You tried to call the number back and figure out who and why , but no one answered. So you got more anxious .

There is a solution which can solve your problem quickly. You can go to the internet, get your favorite search engine, and enter “ Reverse Phone Look Up“. In just a few seconds, you can find many sites offering reverse phone number lookup services. Some of them even claim their service is “free”. You can enter the phone number directly to search. If the phone is a landline phone, you may immediately get the result and know who the owner of this number is. But if it is a cell phone, most likely you will only get the city and phone type (cell phone or landline phone). If you want to get more detailed information about this cell phone, then you need to pay for this reverse cell phone lookup service. In a few minutes you will get the information of the owner: Name, address, phone carrier, etc.

Therefore, when a website mentions a “free” reverse phone number look up service, it is very possible it only provides the city and the phone type information of the number. And the user needs to pay for more detailed information . Some websites even provide some other information associated with the number, like the owner’s criminal background, court records, neighbors, marital status, employer etc, if the user wants to pay.

Most people don’t want to pay and would like to search for free information . But sometimes it may need lots of time to search for truly free information, and sometimes you may even get nothing after spending lots of time . Paying a small amount of fee can save you much time, and get more accurate information.
