Good things that a marriage counselor brings to a couple

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

One of the sad facts about our society today is divorce. And the couple are not just the people affected by this development.  Often times it involves children as well. What’s sad about it is that it could have been avoided.  If the couple had just sought out some marriage counseling they could have prevented it. So, let us go take a look at some of the benefits of marriage counseling.

First thing it can provide is an environment where both parties can work out their differences.  Of course it only works if both parties want to work it out.  I have seen couples in my San Diego marriage therapist practice who didn’t really want to work it out.  For that case it can never work.  But if both people do want to save their marriage, counseling can be of benefit.

Another thing is it will provide a nice environment for both of the parties. What I mean by nice environment is that the parties can have a neutral location to air out their grievances to each other. That way, they would feel safe and relaxed.  If they feel in a more comfortable environment this will help out the process.  This is a better alternative then working it out at home where there is constant fighting. So many couples come in for my San Diego marriage counseling service and they immediately are more civil in the office.

Finally, a good therapist will make the couple communicate better. That is one of the important keys to resolving all their issues. What I’m referring to is communication. The most common problem of couples is that they have trouble communicating.  Most of the time instead of communicating they are really just yellling.Undergoing a good counseling, the couples will be taught by the counselor ways on how to communicate.  In my couples therapy San Diego practice I emphasize the need for communication. It is one of the most important aspect of this process of reconciliation and counseling. It will be the key to preventing the marriage go into a divorce.

How to look for a reputable marriage counselor

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Asking for others’ help is one of the toughest things that a couple will do when experiencing marriage problems.  Namely, looking to a marriage counselor to help you.But once you already have the courage to go seek help how do you look for someone that can really help. That is a tough question to ask.  But when your marriage is on the line you want to answer it right.

So what makes a good marriage therapist?  In my San Diego marriage therapist service I try to answer that for all my clients.  What my answers are depends on what they are looking for.  The reason why I say that is because ultimately both people will need to trust the therapist.  If they do not they will not work towards a solution. But if they trust the counselor then it will be good for them. Without trust there will be no common goal or solution for both of the parties.

Another thing that I have learned helping with couples therapy San Diego is experience. Most couples that I have dealt with were looking for an experienced counselor. It just makes sense because an experienced counselor have seen different situations and can address most of the couple’s problems. And from those experiences can provide solutions that have worked before. This will make it hard for new therapists to gain experience but that is what couples are looking for.

Finally doing marriage counseling San Diego has allowed me to see that most couples want someone with the same values. In other words there are different therapy techniques. But if the technique that is being taught to them is contrary to what they firmly believe in then it definitely will not work.So you should look for a counselor that shares your views as a couple. This will build a relationship that will work and help you out as couples.

Those were some of the things that couples want to look for when they are looking for a good counselor.  Of course it doesn’t cover everything but it is a good start to find help. And in the end those are the things that struggling couples want.

What situations require marriage counseling

In life and in any relationship there will be conflict. It’s obvious sometimes there will some that are worse off than others.  In a marriage these conflicts can lead to serious consequences. The difficult part of it all is being able to tell when counseling is needed. Because you don’t to overreact and grab any counselor from one argument.  But you need to know when it is needed. So what will allow you to know when it is needed?

That is a hard question.  As a San Diego marriage therapist helping people has allowed me to see who needs it.Because sometimes there will be a situation when it isn’t needed.  But the counseling sessions always prove beneficial regardless.  But a sign that shows me that a couple needs counseling is when there is no communication.  If couples are fighting but still trying to work it out that is good.  But if the only time a couples talks is when they fight they need help. There is no communication there. And being able to know how to communicate is an important factor to fixing it.

Another sign is the couple not wanting to be with each other. That seems obvious but if a couple hates being in the same room with each other they need help.  I have seen a lot of couples come to that point while helping in couples counseling San Diego. If hate is present that is not a good sign. This can cause very harmful effects within the relationship.

Finally another sign I have seen doing San Diego marriage counseling is when it starts effecting the whole family. If kids are in between it all and you see it is having some emotional effects, that couple should seek help.  It is one thing to fight, but when it hurst the children now they need help.  They should avoid allowing the fighting to ruin the family. If it is doing that, counseling should be sought after.

How hard it can be for a couple to seek marriage counseling

Monday, September 7th, 2009

One of the unfortunate but natural things that happen in a marriage is fighting.I am pretty sure that there are no couple in the world who does not fight or argue.  The unfortunate part comes when those fights get bigger than it should be.It is just natural for a couple to argue sometimes and have differences. But is unfortunate when their differences separate.

Dealing with couples as a marriage counselor San Diego has allowed me to see how difficult it is for some people to seek counseling. There are couples who do not want others to know about their problems.  Or there are some people who are too prideful to ask for help. And also, there are couples who do not believe that their situation can still be fixed.  But that is the sad part.Because with a good counseling most of the couple’s issues can be resolved.

But married couples are not the only ones qualified to see a couples conselor. Those in pre-marital relationships have problems and fights sometimes as well. But they also let it go too far just like married couples.  I know because doing couples counseling San Diego has allowed me to see both ways. Those couples that has undergone counseling experienced a very good change in their relationship. While those that didn’t seek help had many relationships end. Of course therapy is not sole answer to fixing relationships but is one big part of it.

Why does couples counseling work?Because you have a professional that is going to help you. This professional counselor have a lot of experience dealing with married couples’ issues.  Experience is priceless for situations such as this.  With some wise advice it can turn things around. It can tell you where the differences with your spouse come from.  Then it can give a plan of action to fix those problems.  Time and time again doing marriage counseling San Diego has proven this to be true.Even if it does not work the relationship is going to end anyway so there’s nothing to lose. But it can save a relationship from a bitter divorce if it does work.

One of the unfortunate but natural things that happen in a marriage is fighting.I am sure that there has never been a couple that has never fought. What’s unfortunate is when those fights become bigger than it should be.It is just but human nature that couples will fight and argue sometimes.

But that would be sad.  Because with effective counseling most issues can be resolved.

It doesn’t just have to deal with married couples as well. Those couples who are not married yet but living together also have fights and arguments sometimes.  But just like in marriage a couple can let it get too far.  I know because doing couples counseling San Diego has allowed me to see both ways. Those couples that has undergone counseling experienced a very good change in their relationship. While those that didn’t seek help had many relationships end. Of course therapy is not the answer for all the problems but it can be a big help.

Why does couples counseling help?Because the one that would help you is a professional in this kind of thing.  This professional has had a lot of experience with all kinds of situations.  Experience is priceless for situations such as this. With some very good and wise advice the situation can be turned around.  It can point out where the difficulties are.It can give a plan on how to fix a couple’s problems.  Time and time again doing marriage counseling San Diego has proven this to be true. The relationship is going to end anyway even if the counseling does not work. But if it works then it can save a relationship and that is wonderful.

Is couples counseling beneficial

One of the questions asked all the time is whether or not counseling can help. It can be about family problems.  Or personal problems.Or especially in relationship problems.  After all who wants to reveal their problems to people.  On top of that you have to pay for it too.

So in this article we are going to look at how counseling can help in relationships.  Best part of all this is coming from case study experiences in real life practice as a marriage counselor in San Diego services.  Hopefully the experiences will help you decide if marriage counseling can help you.

But my counseling is not just limited to marriage counseling.Couples that are not married also undergo counseling to seek help in their relationship. With that my couples counseling San Diego practice can also help them as well.

If you think that counseling can help you both you and partner must first agree on some things.  First you have to both decide you want this to work. If one of the parties involved is not keen on getting this problem resolved then no amount of counseling will be able to help.  But if you are able to have two will parties wanting this to work it can work.

Another thing is that you both have to be open to each other.  A good family therapist San Diego will be able to show both parties how to communicate better. The counselor will give ways that will help couples do this.  Because ultimately resolving the differences will be dependant on the ability to communicate.Counseling is of no help as long as the couple is not open to learning to communicate.

Those will be the things that you should check if you are still deciding whether to undergo counseling or not.Counseling may be suited for the both of you if you can meet the criteria.  If you can’t, there isn’t any kind of counseling that can help.

Benefits of marriage counseling

One of the concerns of most couples is if counseling can be helpful to their marriage. Whether it is with family problems.Or with a personal problem.Or especially in relationship problems. After all do you know someone who wants his/her problem be known by other people.  On top of that you have to pay for it too.

How counseling can help relationships is what we are going to look at in this article.  Best part of all this is coming from case study experiences in real life practice as a marriage counselor in San Diego services.  Hopefully the experiences will help you decide if marriage counseling can help you.

But my counseling is not just limited to marriage counseling.  Many couples that aren’t married seek help as well. With that my couples counseling San Diego practice can also help them as well.

So to decide if it can help you you have to decide a couple of things.First thing would be that the couple should agree on making this work. If one of the parties involved does not really want this to work then no kind of counseling can help.  But if you are able to have two will parties wanting this to work it can work.

Another thing is that you both have to be open to each other.  A good family therapist San Diego will be able to show both parties how to communicate better. The counselor will be able to provide ways on how couples can do this.  Because ultimately resolving the differences will be dependant on the ability to communicate.  If the couple is not open to learning how to communicate no amount of counseling will help.

Those are some things you have to look at when deciding on counseling. If you can meet the criteria then counseling would be able to help you.  If you can’t, there isn’t any kind of counseling that can help.

Undergoing relationship counseling decisions

Friday, August 28th, 2009

For couples to decide to seek help to mend their relationship is tough to make. It will be a decision that can make something private be made public.  That is what makes it so hard to do it. But going through it may be the way for couples to rebuild their broken relationships.A broken relationship can be healed.A relationship that is on the rocks can be reunited.

In this article you are going to get opinions I have gained as a marriage counselor San Diego.Opinions that will be very helpful for couples to restore their broken relationships.Because anything that can help is good for something as important as a relationship.A relationship is so important we should not let problems destroy it.

There will be times in life that couple will just start fighting and arguing. There are a lot of reasons which can cause this. But there are so many reasons that citing one reason is still not enough.  That is why good couples counseling San Diego can help the couple find out what are the issues.Couples understanding their relationships better is one of the things a good counseling session can do.  It can also help them make better thought out decisions.

The goal of any counseling or anybody that comes to my San Diego therapist office should be to help them understand the problems.Because not understanding the true cause of the problems won’t lead to any resolutions.  By understanding the problems the couple can cope better. They will be able to acquire better sense of understanding and intimacy. They can build a stronger bond.

Once the couple do have that understanding they can begin to learn skills. Skills that will be helpful in solidifying their relationship.  By developing these skills it builds a good foundation for any future problems. So instead of fighting over a problem they will be able to resolve it.This is the things that a successful counselling can do to a relationship.

Couples therapy and advice

Monday, August 17th, 2009

One of the hardest things for us humans to do is ask for help. It doesn’t matter what it is.A lot of the times we are determined to try and solve everything by ourselves. That includes any problems with relationships we have.  But for something as important as a relationship sometimes you have to.

I have seen from my experience doing couples therapy in San Diego the results of people who didn’t want to ask for help.I witnessed many relationships get ruined.Lives that are ruined for the both of them.  The sad part is a lot of times if they just sought out counseling it could have been prevented.

So why is it so important to seek some counseling for relationship problems. Because in reality, there is anything that really is as important as the relationships we have. It can be your girlfriend or boyfriend.Or in a marriage relationship, it can be your spouse. If you allow the issues to go too far, you can cause what was once a wonderful relationship to end forever.  I have seen couples marriages end as a marriage counselor in San Diego by not seeking help.

The truth of it all is the fact that counseling can work.It allows both parties to hear somebody neutral.  It gives the couple a neutral opinion on the situation at hand.  This neutral party is often enough to help the couple see what the real problems are.  Being able to see what the real problems are is just the beginning. But that step is very important to fixing the problems if that is whay you want.

So if you consider this relationship as important, you must fight hard for it.Don’t allow the anger and the emotions to get the best of the situation.  By seeking good counseling advice you can solve many differences. And when it comes to something so important like a relationships, you have to put every effort into solving it.

From my experience doing marriage counseling San Diego many relationships can get fixed with some good advice.

Fix the fighting now

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

One of the great things we experience in our lifetimes is the relationships we have. From the wonderful experiences of family relationships to love relationships it is great. But in a few instances what was once good can turn bad. What used to be something of great happiness can now become so painful and sorrowful.

I have seen this first hand helping people in couples therapy in San Diego. What was once a promising relationship becomes antagonistic. What once looked so beautiful and promising now has a very grim outlook.  What happened and what can be done to change it?

That is a huge question and one that will be difficult to answer.Every struggling relationship will have different sets of circumstance.  But my experience doing marriage counseling San Diego has shown me there are methods you can use to bring out good solutions.

One of the things that is helpful to them is by giving them a safe place to talk. Most of the times when you try and address the problems at your house it just won’t work.By proving a safe environment for them they are able to feel comfortable and safe which allows them work things out easier.

Another thing that can help the couple is by being an ear for them.  But not just an ear but an impartial ear.An ear that is able to hear the issues and talk about them impartially.Accomplishing that can work miracles.  That third person can address the issues apart from a heated argument. When a couple is in the heat of the argument and they try to fix it, it usually won’t work.

Another thing that the couple can be helped with is by teaching them how to listen to each other.  In my practice as a marriage counselor in San Diego, I help them develop these skills.  These skills help them hear each other out rather than always trying to win the point.

By doing this, they are able to really address the issues. Accomplishing these few tasks can work wonders in a troubled relationship.I have been a witness to it many times as a marriage therapist.
